Creative Cluster: A Framework for Growth

The Hon. Michael Chan, Minister of Tourism and Culture, announced the release of Ontario’s Entertainment and Creative Cluster: A Framework for Growth.  This document lays out the the vision of the ministry for the continued growth and leadership of Ontario’s content-producing industries (the film, television, publishing, music and interactive digital media sectors).  The report was released on June 30th, 2010 at Digital Dialogue, a conference hosted by the Ontario Media Development Corporation, for leaders in the media industries.

What are arts and entertainment industries - also known as cultural industries?
Cultural industries are businesses whose main purpose is to create and distribute arts and entertainment, including (but not limited to):

  • Film and video
  • Music
  • Television
  • Radio
  • Live commercial theatre
  • Books
  • Magazines
  • New Media
